Post Office® and Smart Energy GB team up to spread the word about smart meters

Smart Energy GB, the voice of Britain’s smart meter rollout, has today announced a partnership with Post Office®. Leaflets containing information about smart meters will be available in over 11,000 Post Office® branches from today.

Every home in Britain will be offered a smart meter, at no additional cost, by 2020, bringing an end to estimated bills. They show customers how much energy they’re using in pounds and pence, in near real-time.

Smart Energy GB’s campaign is underway on TV, radio and billboards and in newspapers and magazines across Great Britain. The campaign will invite people to pick up a leaflet from Post Office® branches, to get more information on what smart meters are and how they can use them to save money. A version in Welsh will also be available in Post Office® branches across Wales.

Sacha Deshmukh, Chief Executive of Smart Energy GB said:

“Post Office plays an important role in our communities so I’m delighted that people will be able to find information about smart meters in branches across Great Britain. We will be working with Post Office to ensure that everyone – especially those not online – understands what smart meters deliver and how to claim their smart meters from their energy supplier.”

Martin George, Commercial Director at Post Office®, said: “With thousands of branches across the UK, we are well placed to act as an information point for those interested in finding out more about smart meters. It is vital that those people who do not have access to information at the push of a button can find out what they need at their local Post Office.”

Smart Energy GB is working with national organisations, supporting local groups, and teaming up with major brands to reach every home in Great Britain. Its work with trusted charities, brands and people is at the heart of the national campaign to raise awareness of the smart meter rollout.
