DECC to ease commercial solar PV Investment Barriers

DECC has confirmed that from 2019, building-mounted solar PV panels will be able to be moved to a different location without losing Feed-in-Tariff accreditation. DECC has also confirmed that schemes of up to one megawatt in size will no longer require full planning approval before permission is granted.

Previously an installation would need to stay in the same position for 20 years despite some 65% of commercial properties having average lease lengths of less than a decade.

The changes will also see an increase in the development threshold for PV systems on commercial rooftops from 50kW to 1MW with the result that full planning permission will no longer be required.
